“A creative dyeing service like no other in Australia”

After dyeing

Your newly coloured article needs
‘finishing’ ready-to-wear

Why is this necessary?

The new dye is colour fast. It does not come off in washing or dry cleaning.

If you see any dye in the rinse water, it is surplus colour that has remained in seams, folds and pockets after dyeing.

The dyeing equipment is very slow and although we rinse articles 4 – 6 times, some fabrics and garment styles ‘hold on’ to surplus dye.

MACHINE WASHABLES

Wash your article separately after dyeing to remove residual dye. This is not necessary for pale colours like beige etc.

Keep in mind all dyed items can now be washed with similar coloured articles. We recommend front loaded washing machines, as they give a more gentle wash process and offer ‘hand wash’ and ‘delicate’ cycles.

Mid to dark colours (especially reds) sometimes need 2 washes (500 or 900). After washing and while damp, shake or pull the article to resize it - then ‘line’ or ‘flat’ dry away from direct sunlight.

WASH SILK with ‘Wool & Delicates’ detergent - by hand or in a front loaded machine on ‘delicate’ cycle. (Normal enzyme laundry detergent removes the colour from silk

Basic batch dyed items (machine washable) require one hot (50°) detergent wash before wearing. When damp, shake or pull the article to resize it, then ‘line’ or ‘flat’ dry away from direct sunlight.

Sometimes dry cleaning may be necessary to remove all residual colour.

Special (mini) batch dyed items (dry clean only and delicates) are best dry cleaned and pressed. Your professional Drycleaner can ‘steam stretch’ and shape fitted and tailored articles. Try on the article after dyeing and tell the Drycleaner where extra size is required. See Shrinkage notes in FAQ
